Visionary Illuminations

Privacy & Cookie Policy

This notice explains how Visionary Illuminations (“we”, “us”) uses personal data and cookies when you use our website. It is written for visitors in the United Kingdom and reflects UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) as they apply to cookies and similar technologies.

Who we are

The data controller for personal data processed through this website is Visionary Illuminations. You can contact us about privacy at imagine@visionaryilluminations.co.uk.

Personal data we process

Depending on how you use the site, we may process:

  • Contact details if you email us or send a message (for example name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message).
  • Technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed, typically collected by our hosting or infrastructure providers as part of delivering the site (see Cookies below).

The contact form on this site is not currently connected to a server that stores submissions; if you use it before it is wired to a backend, your details are not stored by us through that form until that changes. If we connect it to email or a database, we will update this notice to describe that processing.

Purposes and lawful bases

We only use personal data where we have a lawful basis under UK GDPR. Examples:

  • Responding to enquiries — often legitimate interests (running our business and responding to prospective clients) and/or contract (steps before a contract), depending on the enquiry.
  • Operating and securing the website legitimate interests and, where strictly necessary, cookies may rely on the PECR exemption for essential cookies.
  • Non-essential cookies (for example analytics or marketing) — only where we have obtained your consent via our cookie banner, and we will describe them in the table below before switching them on.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We group them as essential (needed for the site to function or for a service you have explicitly requested) and non-essential (such as analytics or advertising). Under PECR, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies, except where an exemption applies.

When you use Accept or Decline on our cookie banner, we store your choice in the cookie below so we do not keep asking on every visit.

We do not use Google Analytics or similar third-party analytics on this site at present. If that changes, we will update this table and only load those tools after consent where required.

Many websites use Google services (for example Google Analytics or advertising products). If we add tools that send data to Google from our domain, we will describe them here. For general information about how Google may use data when sites and apps use Google services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services (Google).

Third-party sites and services

Our site may link to third parties (for example social networks or our meeting booking provider). Those sites have their own privacy notices and cookies. Opening a link in a new tab may allow the third party to set its own cookies on their domain.

Retention

We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes we collected it, including any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Cookie durations are listed in the table above; enquiry emails are kept according to our internal retention practices.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights including: access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, and data portability (where applicable). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

To exercise your rights, contact us at imagine@visionaryilluminations.co.uk.

Changes to this notice

We may update this page when our practices or the law change. The “last updated” expectation is that you check this page periodically; material changes may also be signposted on the site where appropriate.
